This piece is from Chapter XVII of the Papyrus of Hu-nefer (Book of the Dead, Papyrus of Ani, Prt Em Hru, etc.) exoterically it shows a Cat (Mau symbolic of Ra) defeating a serpent (Budge, 1985). The esoteric symbolism is that the serpent represents ignorance (darkness), the cat represents light (knowledge) according to Dr. Muata Ashby in his work The Serpent Power.
